Hi, everyone!
Some of you have heard of this already, so a brief explanation. For my little sister
tencups_i_swear 's birthday the other day (ahem. Happy Birthday, tencups!) I gave her copies of our favourite books,
The Thief and
The Queen of Attolia. Before I sent them, I printed off some chapter headings kindly translated from the Japanese edition of these books by
ninedaysaqueen , and illustrated each heading with a scene from the chapter, and slotted them and some other surprises between the pages.
Those of you who know tencups know that she's a MUCH better artist than I, so my efforts aren't anyway near such entertaining caricatures of the characters as hers are (try
http://goat-foot-baa.deviantart.com/gallery/#Queens-Thief ) but here they are!

Tons of thanks (and international cookies) to everyone who contributed to the present, and also to the people whose work I used without warning them, namely
peggy_2 (for the original Japanese photos) and
ninedaysaqueen . Also, thanks to thelasteddis for her very helpful feedback on the pictures. She'll have noticed that I didn't take her advice, for which I can only defend myself by saying that I ran out of time, and ink drawings unfortunately don't lend themselves to much last-minute revision. But it was very much appreciated :D
Also, I *am* aware that I spelt 'thief' wonky. Mea Culpa!
Comments
That I recieved it and then spent the next ten minutes saying squeekily,
"I'm so happy, I'm so happy, I'm so happy" over and over again?
Mum was very amused.
Don't you always wish there was a way to erase pen? my pencil drawings never last, and they smear, but if I make a mistake in the pen ones (which is frequent and often catastrophic), there's NOTHING I CAN DO. I guess my favorite medium is paint, because I can paint over things. And you can use glazes. I LOVE glazes.
Don't you always wish there was a way to erase pen? Oh gawsh YES. I *always* draw in either ink or plain ballpoint (as you can see, my arty pretensions don't extend very far) and I either rush along and screw things up immensely, or proceed at a snail's pace for fear one careless stroke will ruin my masterpiece. I envy your paint-skills!
Very nice pictures, by the way! :D
A million years ago when Dad attempted to teach me to draw, I had to use charcoal and pencil. *shudders* Pen is much better.
Thank you!
FUDGE BROWNIE YOU ARE MY HERO EVEN THOUGH YOU WILL NEVER READ THIS.
...That is AWESOME.
Also, yay for commenting at exactly the same moment as me!
Fudge brownie = YUM. Maybe I should get some lunch...
Aren't brownies wonderful???? With caramel sauce???
Caramel sauce!
(btw, I'm replying to your email. It will be there... soonish. Maybe.)
I should have known we would get to this point and stopped opening the comment alert emails. My growling abdomen is starting to alarm the guy next to me (whose massive piles of highlighted notes are overflowing onto my desk, by the way) and that is YOUR FAULT.
I have a single, solitary feijoa, but I forgot to bring a spoon. Life is cruel.
(Hee, which email?)
*crawls in a corner*
Right now I'm replying to the first one - with the FANFIC TIME subject. I'll get to the others soon.
*is feeling better*
*will not snap anymore*
*would like to apologise*
Please come out of the corner. I promise not to bite your head off.
Oh, and don't worry about emailing me pronto - I know you're busy!
*creeps out of corner*
I'll get the email finished soon! soon-ish. It's a long email.
I'm sorry the pictures are so tiny - I still haven't worked out how to make them larger on the LJ page. But by clicking and then clicking again, you'll be taken to enlargements, if you want to see the details.
